Building geoscience knowledge among university graduates requires collaboration between industry and academic institutions. Graduate requires access to research funding, data collection and analysis tools, internship opportunities and graduate development programmes. Besides being an interesting continent with remarkable geologic and tectonic features, Africa is susceptible to natural hazards with few professionals in geoscience.  There is a need for capacity building of young geoscientists to bring new insights through observations and to make innovative use of existing local and global datasets.
