The purpose of the JFT Graduate Mentorship Program is to create a support network for each interested person (mentee) and provide a platform for graduate students to meet each other and learn from a diverse group of mentors.

Studies have demonstrated that “soft skills”, in addition to technical knowledge, are essential for graduates to be successful as innovators, entrepreneurs, and in the traditional job. These include communication, teamwork, and problem-solving.

One of the best ways to develop these employability skills is through mentoring relationships, in which an experienced person provides advice and assistance to a mentee. We have developed a mentorship framework that aims to promote both the personal and career development of the mentee.

Mentorship Priority Areas

Our structured graduate mentorship programme promotes the following:

  • Personal development to enhance self-confidence
  • Career development to enhance technical skills
  • Soft skills and nurturing innovative
  • Scholarship opportunities and application;
  • Community engagement
  • Presentation skills
  • Advanced thinking and informed planning

Benefits of mentorship to graduates

So, even though you might have strong enthusiasm for a specific subject, your final objective for getting an advanced degree may still be changing. Your mentors have the chance to help you with that evolution at this time.

It has been revealed that  graduate students who receive quality mentorship  exhibit:

Finally, it is an excellent reward to the graduates to gain inherent personal and professional satisfaction.

  • Professional success with greater chances of securing a tenure-track position if seeking employment in academia or more tremendous career advancement potential if seeking leadership positions in administration or sectors.
